Scheme Overview

Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) provides collateral-free loans up to ₹20 Lakhs (recently revised from ₹10 Lakhs) to non-corporate, non-farm small/micro enterprises. The loans are classified into three categories representing the stage of growth: Shishu (up to ₹50,000), Kishor (₹50,000 to ₹5 Lakhs), and Tarun (₹5 Lakhs to ₹20 Lakhs). This loan can be used for working capital, buying tools/machinery, and business expansion.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Proprietorship/Partnership firms, small manufacturing units, service sector entities, shopkeepers, fruit/vegetable vendors, artisans, and agriculture-allied activities.
  • The applicant must not be a defaulter with any financial institution or bank.
  • Must have a viable business proposal for a non-farm revenue-generating activity.

Required Documents

  • Proof of Identity (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN Card / Driving License)
  • Proof of Residence (Electricity Bill / Aadhaar / Telephone Bill)
  • Business Address Proof and Business Registration Certificate
  • Quotations of machinery or items to be purchased
  • Bank Account Statement for the last 6 months (for Kishor and Tarun loans)
  • Past 2 years Balance Sheet and Income Tax Returns (for Tarun loans)

Application Process

1. Identify the MUDRA loan category suitable for your business (Shishu, Kishor, or Tarun).
2. Gather the business proposal, machinery quotes, and standard KYC documents.
3. Visit any commercial bank, cooperative bank, regional rural bank, microfinance institution (MFI), or apply online through the Udyami Mitra portal (udyamimitra.in) or JanSamarth portal.
4. Submit the MUDRA application form along with documents.
5. The bank evaluates the creditworthiness and business feasibility.
6. Upon approval, the bank issues a Mudra Debit Card which allows drawing cash for working capital.

Udyam Registration is the official, free-of-cost registration portal for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India. Getting registered provides an Udyam Certificate which acts as permanent proof of being an MSME. Registered enterprises become eligible for numerous benefits, including priority sector lending, collateral-free bank loans, lower interest rates, concessions on electricity bills, stamp duty exemption, and subsidies on patent registrations.
