Scheme Overview

Udyam Registration is the official, free-of-cost registration portal for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India. Getting registered provides an Udyam Certificate which acts as permanent proof of being an MSME. Registered enterprises become eligible for numerous benefits, including priority sector lending, collateral-free bank loans, lower interest rates, concessions on electricity bills, stamp duty exemption, and subsidies on patent registrations.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Any person who intends to establish a micro, small, or medium enterprise.
  • Classification is based on investment in plant & machinery and annual turnover: - Micro: Investment < ₹1 Crore & Turnover < ₹5 Crore. - Small: Investment < ₹10 Crore & Turnover < ₹50 Crore. - Medium: Investment < ₹50 Crore & Turnover < ₹250 Crore.

Required Documents

  • Aadhaar Number of the proprietor, managing partner, or authorized director
  • PAN Card of the Enterprise/Proprietor
  • GSTIN (GST Identification Number) - mandatory for businesses unless exempted
  • Active Mobile Number and Email Address
  • Bank Account Number and IFSC code

Application Process

1. Go to the official Udyam Registration portal (udyamregistration.gov.in).
2. Click on 'For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME'.
3. Enter the Aadhaar Number and Name of the entrepreneur, then click 'Validate & Generate OTP'.
4. Upon OTP validation, enter PAN details and validate.
5. Fill in business location details, bank details, investment and turnover figures, and select appropriate NIC codes for services or manufacturing.
6. Accept the declarations and submit. A permanent Udyam Registration Number and downloadable Udyam Certificate will be issued.

PM Vishwakarma Yojana (Central Sector Scheme)

PM Vishwakarma Yojana is a premier Central Sector Scheme active in 2026, specifically designed to support traditional artisans and craftspeople of 18 trades, including carpenters (Suthar/Sutar) from the Vishwakarma community. The scheme aims to uplift carpenters under the Sutar Samaj government schemes. Core benefits include formal recognition through a PM Vishwakarma Certificate & ID Card, hands-on skill upgradation training (Basic 5-7 days, Advanced 15+ days) with a daily stipend of ₹500, a toolkit incentive of ₹15,000 (provided as an e-voucher for modern tools), and collateral-free enterprise development loans up to ₹3 Lakhs at a concessional 5% interest rate. PMEGP is a major credit-linked subsidy program aimed at generating self-employment opportunities through establishment of micro-enterprises in both rural and urban areas. Under the scheme, beneficiaries can set up manufacturing units up to ₹50 Lakhs and service sector units up to ₹20 Lakhs. The government provides subsidies ranging from 15% to 35% depending on category (General/Special) and location (Urban/Rural).

Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY)

Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) provides collateral-free loans up to ₹20 Lakhs (recently revised from ₹10 Lakhs) to non-corporate, non-farm small/micro enterprises. The loans are classified into three categories representing the stage of growth: Shishu (up to ₹50,000), Kishor (₹50,000 to ₹5 Lakhs), and Tarun (₹5 Lakhs to ₹20 Lakhs). This loan can be used for working capital, buying tools/machinery, and business expansion.
